The print quality on my paper is faded and missing
If you have recently changed paper to a thin copy paper, try using a heavier paper designed for inkjets. Avoid coated paper... for example, paper that is coated on one side and not the other. If your print is basically disappearing as the page is printed, you most likely ran out of ink. On deskjets that print banners (680, 690, and 692 printers) make sure that the banner lever is pushed to the left unless you're printing banners. Just give us a kall if you need standard paper, banner paper or cartridges. We keep all Deskjet cartridges and paper in stock everyday for immediate delivery.
The ink is smearing or is splotchy
You most likely are running out of ink, but sometimes if the cartridge has started to dry out from not being used regularly, you can clean the print cartridges. On the 600 and 800 series of printers the software has an option called the HP Toolbox. In Windows you should find the toolbox in the Deskjet Utilities Group. In DOS they call the software the Deskjet Control Panel. For those of you who have a 400 or 500 series deskjet you can find the Clean Cartridge option in the Deskjet Control Panel in Windows or DJCP in the DOS directory c:\deskjet. Refer to your manual because each printer is different when it comes to maintenance.
When I print envelopes the text is distorted
Steer clear of shiny or embossed envelopes or those that have clasps or windows. Also envelopes with thick, irregular, or curled edges or areas that are wrinkled, or torn could get stuck in the printer.
Would you suggest using cartridge refills?
I do not recommend using cartridge refills or recycled cartridges. This suggestion is based on Hewlett Packards statistic showing that 96% of all printers returned to Hewlett Packard for repair are due to ink leakage/damage from a non-HP refill ink product or a non-HP refilling process.
